Are you a visionary Catholic leader passionate about evangelization, catechesis, and lifelong discipleship? The Diocese of Erie is seeking an experienced and faith‑filled professional to serve as Executive Director of Faith Formation, providing strategic leadership for diocesan initiatives that form disciples at every stage of life.
This senior leadership role works closely with the Bishop, Vicar General, clergy, parish leaders, and diocesan staff to ensure faith formation across the diocese is mission‑driven, pastorally responsive, and rooted in Church teaching.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and supervise three diocesan directors:
- Catechesis & Sacraments
- Marriage & Family Life
- Youth & Young Adult Ministries
- Provide strategic vision and oversight for diocesan faith formation programs.
- Collaborate with clergy and parish leaders to strengthen evangelization and discipleship.
- Guide policy development related to catechesis and sacramental preparation.
- Support parishes with best practices, resources, and formation models.
- Oversee departmental budgeting, planning, and compliance.
- Represent the Diocese of Erie at regional and national faith formation gatherings.
- Travel throughout the Diocese of Erie for parish visits, trainings, and events.
What We’re Looking For
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Master’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Ministry, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in catechesis and/or pastoral ministry.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in parish, diocesan, or Catholic educational ministry.
- Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills.
- Experience supervising ministry teams and developing diocesan‑level programs or policies.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends and travel within the diocese.
