Basic Functions:
The Senior Coordinator of Liturgies and Music is a full-time staff position of the Office for Divine Worship. Primary duties are to assist in coordinating the various liturgical celebrations for which the Office has responsibility and to oversee programming in the area of liturgical music. The specific responsibilities are as follows:

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  •  Coordinates, in consultation with the Director and Staff, liturgies, particularly liturgical music for those celebrations for which the Office has responsibility.
  •  Collaborates with other agencies, institutions and organizations (some outside the Archdiocese of Chicago) as needed in planning for various liturgies (e.g., Holy   Name Cathedral, Office for Life Long Formation, etc.).
  • As a member of the Staff of the ODW, resources parishes and institutions of the Archdiocese as needed in the area of liturgical music.
  • Develops liturgical worship aids for Archdiocesan and Office liturgies.
  • Secures musicians for Archdiocesan and Office liturgies.
  • Develops ODW programs in the area of liturgical music and is able, when needed to present / facilitate workshops. 
  • Is liaison for the Office with the Chicago NPM Chapter. 
  • Promotes and communicates with vicariate liturgical music structures. 
  • Attends to multicultural nature of the Archdiocese. 
  • Administers budget for liturgical music in collaboration with ODW director. 
  • Maintains a relationship with music publishers and other members of the liturgical music industry. 
  • May be given other responsibilities and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties of the position

REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

  • Education Required: Graduate degree in Liturgy and/or Music 
  • Education Preferred: Graduate degree in both Liturgy and Music
  • Experience Required: 5 – 7 years experience in liturgical leadership position, on parish or diocesan level with emphasis on liturgical music
  • Experience Preferred: 5 - 7 years experience as Director of Liturgical Music on diocesan level
  • Skills Required: Proven musical skills (such as choral conducting, instrumental, accompanying or voice), knowledge of computer music writing programs, good organizational skills and excellent oral / written communication skills, adult education methodology skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills 
  • Skills Preferred: Bilingual skills (English / Spanish or English / Polish)

This position has an annualized salary range of $58,662 - $73,328. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
