The Director of Communication is a member of the Pastor’s Leadership Team within the Mother of God Family of Parishes, leading all efforts in communicating the evangelizing vision, ministries, resources, and community-building outreach of the Family of Parishes. The Director manages communications projects across multiple forms of media and works closely with staff to ensure a unified, consistent, on-brand message. The Director also plays an oversight role regarding activation of the vision including event hospitality, event promotion, and supports parish fundraising efforts. In any crisis communications situation, the Director acts as liaison with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Communication Office.The Director collaborates closely and congenially with the entire staff of the Family of Parishes and the various offices of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The Director must be a model of professional conduct and represent the Family of Parishes and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati with honesty and integrity.
1.Lead, manage, and supervise the marketing and communication department.
2.Prepare department and project budgets. Manage within approved expenditure levels.
3.Create, manage and execute the marketing and communication strategies for the Family of Parishes, including the Family website, newsletter, bulletin, promotional materials and social media.
4.Develop and maintain a Graphic Identity System that includes guidelines on use of logo(s), colors, typeface, graphics and images for the parish and school.
5.Direct the “brand” use within the Mother of God Family of Parishes’ communications.
6.Write and/or edit copy for the other Family of Parishes’ staff members.
7.Supervise and manage the Family of Parishes’ website; create compelling up-to-date content, maintain photo gallery, upload media, create online forms, and ensure the integrity of links.
8.Coordinate public relations with other family of parishes and community organizations outside of the Mother of God Family of Parishes.
9.Produce video content that promotes internal parish engagement as well as engagement from the wider community.
10.Promote and attend/participate in Family of Parishes events. Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
11.Actively supervise and coach any other staff members who play a role (e.g. bulletin prep) in communications, regardless of whether that staff member formally reports to the Director.
12.Act as key advisor to the Pastor. Draft statements and letters as requested for the Pastor.
13.Collaborate with the other members of the Family of Parishes Leadership Team to ensure a coherent articulation of the evangelizing vision, ministries, resources, and community-building outreach of the Family of Parishes.
14.In crisis communications situations, engage and collaborate with the archdiocesan Communications Office. Develop and deploy internal roles and processes for such situations.15.Amplify positive stories regarding the work of the Family of Parishes, including sharing with The Catholic Telegraph and other appropriate media.
WHO WE ARE: The Mother of God Family of Parishes is comprised of 3 large parishes in Kettering, Ohio, each with an elementary school. The 3 parishes are Church of the Ascension, St. Albert the Great, and St. Charles Borromeo. We are led by our pastor, Fr. Tom Nevels, and are assigned 2 parochial vicars and 6 deacons. We are blessed to have a large staff consisting of long-term, dedicated individuals.
