POSITION TITLE:              Campus Minister

CLASSIFICATION:             Administrative Staff (Exempt)

DEPARTMENT/OFFICE:  Campus Ministry

REPORTS TO:                     Director of Campus Ministry

 

BASIC FUNCTION:            Provide pastoral care and support to students, fostering spiritual growth and integrating Gospel values with students’ lived experiences. The Campus Minister is responsible for direct pastoral care, supporting interfaith activities, assisting in program planning, and collaborating with student leaders.

 

SCHEDULE OF WORK:    Full Time (40 hours per week). Expected to adjust shifts when necessary to meet University needs.

  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Demonstrate an appreciation for and understanding of the Catholic Franciscan tradition and values of Neumann University.
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students, fostering an environment of inclusivity and support.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of retreats, evenings of reflection, liturgical services, prayer experiences, and Bible study.
  • Support interfaith activities and promote a culture of respect and understanding among different faith traditions on campus.
  • Coordinate and participate in service projects and immersion experiences.
  • Collaborate with student leaders to enhance campus ministry programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain and update campus ministry web page and social media platforms.
  • Assist in the development of advertising and marketing materials to promote spiritual programs.
  • Attend University meetings as assigned.
  • As a visible agent of the University, the highest standards of conduct, attitude, confidentiality and appearance are expected in all aspects of performance.
  • Assist and support all levels of administration in achieving the University’s mission and strategic objectives by bringing an efficient approach to evaluating, mitigating and monitoring risk management assessments.
  • Understand and adhere to all applicable safety policies and procedures, including safety education, accident prevention and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Ministry.

                                                

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIP:

Director of Campus Ministry, Assistant Director of Campus Ministry, Mission & Ministry Unit staff, Chaplain, and University faculty, staff, and students.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology/religious studies or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Franciscan spirituality preferred.
  • Knowledge of Catholic Liturgy and ritual.
  • Ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and function as a team member.
  • Experience in ministry with a diverse population of students.
  • Strong Catholic faith commitment.
  • Ability to appreciate, support, and enhance interfaith relationships on campus.
